Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We think this image just about says it all and pretty much sums up our mindset when it comes to equality, diversity & inclusion in the workplace ...or anywhere else for that matter!
The challenge, though, is often that while everyone 'nods in loud agreement' and everyone accepts the idea that 'there's a line you shouldn't cross'... everyone has a slightly different idea about where this line is. The result? One person says and does things, they make decisions and set priorities that cut across other people's lines... they don't mean to cause offence or to negatively impact them, that was never their intent... but it still happens and they lessen others.
In short most of our work in this area focuses on helping organisations, teams and individuals navigate this issue. It always starts with raising awareness and understanding, but ultimately it is about owning the impact we have on one another and taking personal and collective responsibility for workplace culture. This takes conscious effort and a particular mindset, and that's the change we catalyse and support.
Invariably what this means in practice is everyone listening more and treating in the way they want to be treated rather than treating others in the way you's prefer.

Workshops
Awareness Sessions
Whether it's primarily about understanding the 2010 Equality Act and how to ensure compliance with it's terms, or it's a more general exploration of key ideas and principles, we run a range of engaging workshops tailored to the situations and behaviours participants are experiencing. Although awareness and understanding form core content, sessions always culminate with a focus on 'what are we all going to differently yo apply the ideas we've discussed?'
Unconscious Bias
we run specific sessions on unconscious bias; what it is, the psychological concepts and processes that explain where it comes from and how it arises before exploring what we can do to mitigate its impact. We do this using the The SPACE2 Model of Mindful Inclusion and its 6 evidence-based strategies to help detect and over-ride instinctive reflex responses.
Support
We also work with HR teams and equality & diversity champions on both policy development and, more importantly, the practical steps required to apply these principles in practice and mainstream equality, diversity & inclusion principles.
